Jason Eli Becker (born July 22, 1969) is an American musician, songwriter and composer. At the age of 16, he became part of the Shrapnel Records-produced duo Cacophony with his friend Marty Friedman.They released the albums Speed Metal Symphony in 1987 and Go Off! Cacophony broke up in 1989 and Becker began doing solo work, having released his first album Perpetual Burn in. Find Cacophony discography, albums and singles on AllMusic. Cacophony was a showcase for the highly technical, neo-classical metal talents of guitar virtuosi Marty Friedman and Jason Becker; both made their own instrumental solo recordings between the band's two. To clarify: an earlier review that suggests Becker does not play guitar on any of these tracks is untrue. His guitar playing blesses 5 out of the 9 tracks on this album. Two songs, including 'Blue' and 'Rain' may well be Jason's last songs as a guitar player, and what awesome compositions they are to go out on.
